This design was created as an entry into the Printed Solid 100 Spool Giveaway contest featured on Chris' Basement. I tried to keep the design simple and the parts could be used to create a planter, candle holder, birdfeeder, or anything else you could hang. I would suggest using bailing or picture wire if you want to hang the candle and long enough that the hook will not deform from the heat. Also, the glass candle will need at least a 58 mm diameter hole to fit. (A side idea was to also use the spools as a kind of bumper on the patio or porch to keep rambunctious kids or inebriated guests from knocking them over.) Depending on the configuration of the spool there are 4 hole and 6 hole plates to place over the hole. You might want to use some caulk for the planter. Both to seal the bottom and possibly any seams inside of the spool. The screws I used were #10-32, but the holes are 4 mm in diameter so anything that size should work. There are blocks that can be used in case your spool has too many holes to just drill through.
