<p><strong>Application</strong></p><p>GoPro mounts come with basically every action camera, and most of us have probably more than enough of them in our storage boxes. So why not use them to mount other things, like an old smartphone (which we all probably also have some lying around) to our bicycles handle bar. Even without a SIM card, old phones make great offline navigation systems when used with Apps that support offline maps (e.g. OSMAnd)</p><p>This simple print is a generic flat plate of the size that smartphones used to be before the ultra long form factor became popular. Simply put some adhesive velcro tape on the plate and on the backside of your phone and stick them together. As most of us protect their phones with silicon cases, the tape will not even stick to your old phone, but just to the case.&nbsp;</p><p>Using velcro tape helps to absorb a bit of the vibrations, which is an old trick from RC models.</p><p><strong>Printing</strong></p><p>Printing is not critical on this part. Simply print it in the uploaded position. Use 100% infill to give it enough strength. I have printed mine from PLA on a Ender3Pro, but I am pretty sure PETG would also be a good choice.</p><p><strong>Assembly</strong></p><p>Connect the plate to any generic mount that you have on your bike anyhow (or in your boxes of never used action camera accessories). Due to possible interference with the edge of the plate, you can use either very short GoPro thumb screws, or relative long ones, as you can see in the pictures. Just avoid thumb screws that have their grip exactly at the edge of the plate.</p><p><strong>Disclaimer</strong></p><p>It goes without saying that you are responsible yourself for whatever happens if you use this plate. In my testing it proved to be very reliable, but you need to check yourself if you trust this setup to carry your phone safely.</p><p>I am not affiliate in anyway with GoPro, I only use this wording to point to the generic mounting systems which are common for many action cam brands today.</p><p>&nbsp;</p>
