I wanted to copy a bunch of my grandfather's 35 mm slides to my computer but didn't want to pay a lot for a system or service to do it. The slide stand has a base of 61 x 61 mm. This is the width of my iPhone 7 with an OtterBox case. I did this so when I drop a slide in I can move it back under the camera without having to recenter it every time. The stand has a ledge in the the inner edge that allows you to easily drop the slide in place. For a back light source I used http://photomyne.com It gives you a blank white screen in which you adjust your display to full bright. I found that approximately 2" distance from the light source works best. I placed my iPad on a surface that gave me a good focal length and would not move around when taking the pictures. Once you have the stand above your light source and centered in the camera view you can easily copy slides without having to constantly re-position things. Copying slides takes less than 30 seconds.
