Pi Camera v3 Case Back

What IS this thing? Where did it come from? ================================= I got a Pi Camera v3, which is a new upgrade, I know, but the dimensions are different enough (especially due to the autofocus module) that existing cases just weren't cutting it. I wanted a mount that got the camera far enough away that I could see things well. I liked this mounting arm: [https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4788832](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4788832) but it told me to use a case (not linked, but you should be able to find it on the linked thing's description.) which is designed for a PiCam v2. I needed something designed for a PiCam3 that I could make fit on that arm I liked. Over on Printables. I found this case, which you will need if you plan to use this case back: [https://www.printables.com/model/368788-raspberry-pi-camera-mount-camera-module-3-version](https://www.printables.com/model/368788-raspberry-pi-camera-mount-camera-module-3-version). I used TinkerCAD for the design work. Had to learn tinkercad. Ok, so how do I make this work? ========================= Ok, so you'll need the arm linked above. I followed his instructions for printing, and it worked fine. You will need to **download the zip from the case on Printables** (link above in introduction), and you will need to print the case front that you like. He's got a honeycomb design, a plain design. This is preference. I did the honeycomb. **You will need the STL from this thing for the back.** **You will need the arm from the remix source in this thing.** **You'll have to decide how you want to print the case files.** The original back did not require supports, but had a very different backing that worked for his design. Mine put the little mounting nubbin on the back, so it couldn't easily be printed laying on the back. **I chose to print it how the STL shot shows in the pics with supports.** I don't remember what settings I used with supports, as it was weeks ago, but I dialed the percentage of supports down. It didn't need a TON to support the design, and I needed them to be somewhat easy to remove. It wasn't difficult to remove the supports. **For the front, I THINK I printed it on its face with supports.** The recessed parts of the honeycomb design don't print super well in midair. You'll want to print a little slower for strength, I think. The little clips have a tendency to break along layers when you're installing the case. Supports were easy to remove. **You will need a screw to install the case to the arm.** I found one that fit in my spare parts for my Ender 3 Pro. I won't be able to answer questions about the screw as I don't know much about it. The whole thing is 20mm long, including the head. You won't want it much longer than that, or it'll go into the mounting arm because of the angle. I'm pretty new to 3d printing, all things considered, and VERY new to design, so there are probably ways I could have done this differently. Feel free to let folks know what works for you in the comments. I wrote this guide with the information I wished I'd had on all the parts. *(There are a couple of versions of this thing I've uploaded. I tried to keep the pics updated, but the current version of the thing has a design on the back which is important to me.)*
