Whether you are into airsoft or you own a real steel, optics for Picatinny rails are quite expensive costing upwards of $120. With this adapter you can add dovetail scopes, red dots, lasers or anything that attaches to a standard 12mm dovetail rail. (I have attached a GAMO dot sight that comes in just under $10 and is extremely accurate. I have also used 4x scopes in the the same price range.) This was tested on my M16A3 airsoft gun and a real steel M-16 / CAR-15 with my carrying handle rail found here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4548835 You will need some simple hardware 2: Bolts that are at least 1" 15/32" long or around 36 mm long. 2: 5/16" nuts with corresponding thread to the bolts. *Although not completely necessary, I put some JB weld behind and around the nuts to add additional rigidity and then I sanded it.*
