Picture Frame- Snap Assembly

I recently received a 24in x 18 in charcoal type artwork drawing as a gift. I wasn't quite sure what I was going to do- I had no frame that size. Frame stores can charge quite a bit for a 24x18 in frame. So I thought of 3D printing, but I couldn't make a single piece frame that large. So I created a set of frame pieces that could flexibly be put together with small pegs to create picture frames of multiple sizes. My 24x18 assembly was handled by 4 corner pieces 6in x 6in 2 12in extension pieces 2 6 in extension pieces 8 accent pieces to help hold the pegged pieces together better. 16 26mm hex pegs I then added additional components in 3 inch size increments. So we have corners 3 in x 3 in 6 in x 6 in 3 in left x 6 in right 6 in left x 3 in right Extensions: 3in, 6in, 9in, 12in (These extension have the keyhole for a nail or wall mounting screw. So if you require mounting- an extension is needed in your assembly) Hex pegs - 2 required between each section. The accent piece adds some structural rigidity and also covers the small gap between sections. Some slight sanding of the pegs might be required. Also make sure the hex holes are free of any print material - so that pegs can slide in easily. In some cases glue might help hold pieces together better. I initially tried the frame without glue- and it seems to hold in place. But hanging on a wall may cause slow disassembly over time- so glue might be prudent to use. Notes: 1. I had to print my 12 in extension piece diagonally on my print bed otherwise it would not have fit. If your bed is not large enough- you can chose 2 - 6 inch parts instead. 2. If the hex pegs are not sanded down just a bit, they can crack the hole pieces when assembling them- not a good result after printing pieces that take 4-5 hours to print. So if you want to be safe, sand them or scale the pegs down just slightly for printing- then use glue if they are too loose. 3. Disclaimer: Rights for artwork picture are not mine.
