<h3>What is the Picture Maker Ring?</h3><p>This is an evolution of my Picture maker board which I have now turned into something that allows you to use leftover pieces of filament into a ring.&nbsp;</p><figure class="media"><oembed url="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j_-P2VqYqw4"></oembed></figure><h4>It isn't just a ring?</h4><p>If you connect a number of rings together with waste filament you can make other jewellery like necklaces, bracelets, earrings and even sculptures</p><p>I'd love to see what you come up with</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>The model was designed using fusion 360</p><h4>Why recycling 3D printer waste is so important?</h4><p>One of the downsides of 3D printing is the waste from failed prints and leftover bits of filament that normally end up in landfills which is not environmentally friendly as it will sit in the ground for thousands of years and can end up in our food chain&nbsp;</p><p>My idea is to use up all the waste from 3d printing and turn it into art, Jewellery or useful gadgets.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><h3>How to Make the Picture Maker Ring</h3><h4><strong>Printing</strong></h4><ul><li>No rafting required</li><li>No support required</li><li>10% infill</li><li>0.2mm layer height</li></ul><h4><strong>Assembly instructions&nbsp;</strong></h4><ul><li>print both parts out &nbsp;"<i>(lock in place column)</i>" &amp; “<i>Picturer make Ring v3</i>”</li><li>Insert leftover pieces of filament into the holes of the ring to make a pattern and cut the excess filament off at the surface of the ring</li><li>to make the pattern on the ring pertinent, cover the “<i>(lock in place column)</i>” in tin foil then push it through the ring</li><li>Gently heat the ring with a lighter or heat gun. <i>(Note: Be careful not the overheat as it will deform)</i></li><li>You will know when the filament is locked in place as the ends will be slightly rounded and shiny&nbsp;</li><li>Leave the ring to cool and then remove it from the "<i>(lock in place column)</i>"</li><li>If needed give the ring a light sanding with wet and dry sandpaper<br>&nbsp;</li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p>
