Pimax SMAS Headphone Sound Cup

Pimax SMAS Headphone Sound Cup

This is my design of a headphone/ear cup for the pimax 8k,8kx SMAS headstrap. The sound volume & isolation on the Smas headstrap is quite poor as standard. This modification will clip over the top of the inbuilt headphone, hovers over your ear (without touching it) & redirects the sound to your ear from the side. They can also easily be rotated from side to side, in order to get them directly over your ears. This greatly improves volume & isolation taking the standard strap sound from just useable to good & something closer to the valve index solution. Obviously there is only so much the sound can be improved but I personally find it to be a night & day jump & hopefully others will also. The cup/cover is a snug friction fit over the existing SMAS headphone & with the aid of a piece of elastic cord, becomes a very secure fit. It can be mounted & taken off again in seconds. I used 3mm elastic shock cord for the loop on mine but i'm sure you could use anything stretchy like a rubber band or hairband etc. I printed this in PETG filament. PLA should also work fine but tolerances may vary slightly. Also for anyone who would like these but doesn't have a 3d printer. I sell these on ebay & etsy with worldwide delivery https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Pimax-SMAS-Headphone-Sound-Cups-for-vision-series-8kx-8k-5k-smas-headstraps-/174549359804?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49292 https://www.etsy.com/your/shops/LkdesignCrafts/tools/listings/921499308 I HAVE NOW UPDATED THE DESIGN TO V2 I have angled the cup inward, Made the fit on the smas headphone slightly looser, thinned it out to save print time & filament & changed the ergonomics a little. the sound is about the same as the v1 so if you are happy with that, no need to reprint unless you prefer the look of v2 Any feedback, problems or questions, please leave a comment. enjoy!
