Name: Chess Pieces. Made in a bunker where Jewish residents of Kolomyya hid during World War II. This complete set of chess pieces was made by Pola Najder (1917-97) during World War II while she and her husband and eight others were hiding in a bunker in Kolomyya. Due to lack of access to paint, all the pieces are the same color. To distinguish between black and white, half of them have been marked with an "X" on the bottom.
