PLA Spring Motor Demonstrator 2 is a revamped version of my original Autodesk Fusion 360 design from five years ago. The original PLA Spring Motor Demonstrator was created as a "proof of concept" tool to test the feasibility of a 3D printed PLA spring powering a gear train and propelling a vehicle. Following that successful test, I designed several 3D printed PLA spring powered vehicles. This updated model boasts a 1 (drive) to 125 (driven) gear ratio across three gear stages and is slightly smaller than its predecessor, as evident in the side-by-side comparison photograph. For added strength and longevity, I opted for Ultimaker "Tough PLA" for the pawl, spring, and frames. PLA Spring Motor Demonstrator 2 is a relatively straightforward print and assembly, making it an enjoyable desktop conversation piece despite being originally designed as a proof of concept tool. As usual, I likely forgot to include one or more files, so please don't hesitate to point out any errors or omissions.
