Planetary Gearbox

thingiverse

This is a sample planetary gearbox to test the capability of 3D printing gears. It even has a printable crank (with spinning knob) and a face plate that can be lasercut. The gear teeth are as follows: Ring: 51 Planets: 15 Sun: 21 All parts should be snap or friction fit when necessary, but screw holes are also designed in to allow for secure fastening. Version Differences: V1: Can be assembled without the acrylic faceplate, slightly larger, requires more print time V2: Must have the acrylic faceplate, looks better, thinner, faster to print Print Settings Printer Brand: Printrbot Printer: Simple Silver Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: Doesn't Matter Resolution: 0.3mm Infill: 20% Notes: The tolerances are tuned in to my printer's tolerances. If there is a lot of friction or the teeth mesh tightly, then they are being printed slightly larger. If there is a lot of backlash (shaking of gears when rotating) then they are being printed slightly smaller.
