Planetary Spinners/Beyblades

Planetary Spinners/Beyblades

These were designed with the wish that primary grade level educators with access to a 3d printer could use these in their classroom to help teach about the planets in our solar system. Also we made a meme planet that is half doge dog and half death star. These were edited in Blender using planetary models from tato_713 and the beyblade launcher from s3white 93. Our first iterations didn't spin well and would immediately start precessing, so we tried a model that would print each in half and then have a connector piece through the middle, that way each hemisphere could be printed without support structure as well. On the inside we made cavities where weights, specifically coins, could be used to increase the moment of inertia, but we soon found out that if we just rounded the bottom then it would spin just fine. The Earth was made using a displacement map and the doge dog deathstar was made using just a displacement map and a boolean modifier.
