This is a case for the chirp! - Soil moisture sensor. The open source sensor was developed by https://wemakethings.net/chirp/. I used a Arduino to upload a current firmware to deactivate the light sensor and the chirp, since I access the sensor purely via the serial interface (Raspberry Pi 1). The new firmware has fixed some connection problems. The housing does not require any adhesive or other aids, it clamps itself tightly.
