'plantation blind ' / shutter / window shade - holder / connector piece

My brother's horizontal blinds have broken holder pieces .. he said they looked online and they are like $10 for a PAIR !! now that i am a bit acclimated, i said let me see one and i can give it a shot , here is the draft ! The blind has a vertical slat to which these tiny pieces push into and the tiny rod on other end of it connects to each blind, -- not a good combination with an excited baby pulling to see out ! ---UPDATE: 6-18-15 v2 has the slot for insertion and the flange top for other end insertion as he indicates v1 failed to insert (was going to manually cut the slot, i guess he didnt file the corner off on the other end...) UPTADE: v6-24 has the slot the full distance at the bottom, need filleting which reduces need for platforms UPDATE: July - alot of changes in some detail and still a final vers to come, at first this was taken casually, but last night i actually took the calipers and measured most of a broken original !! ha ha ... BTM end meas. complete
