Updates

23.01.2022 - update:

-This has used me excellent while owning playseat but I have now moved to a P1X rig and don't plan to edit files for this.

14.04.202 - update v1.1:

-Shifter_ball_ram failed, probably hit with it while storing the whole seat, I have made stronger version of it and so far noo need to change anything. I suggest you go for a "shifter_ram_ball_harder.stl" file instead of a regular one.

About Thing

This is v.1, it requires modifying prints with soldering iron to fit, don't print if you don't have to.

v.2 is already in the making, I'm publishing this just for people to test it so if you are impatient you can try v.1 or wait for a newer version.

This idea is based on @dabinn youtube video, but since RAM mounts are either too expensive or too long to wait for a shipment from China (coronavirus) I decided to fully print my RAM and GoPro mounts.

Since I have no clue in 3d modeling this thing is based on their respected designers, I just modified them to suit my needs.

YakFisher 1.5" Ball System with Garmin Ball Mount by YakFisher

Flashlight holder (mount) for bicycle bar / bicycle light by AndrewUsov

Hardware

This is out of my head, I do have to reameasure everything.

I'm assuming you have access to most of the M3, M4, M5 and M6 hardware.

M6 x 30mm and nuts - 2pcz

M5 x 40mm and nuts - 1pcz

M5 x 35mm and nuts - 1pcz

M4 - few bolts and nuts

M3 - few bolts and nuts

Slicing

Every part is structural and I would print with it with at least 80% infill and min 5 walls.

Only 22mm hinges require support, other can be printed without.

Note the orientation for best rigidity when slicing, should be done automatically by slicer.

Post Printing

Part "left_mount.stl" requires modification to acquire a greater angle of Ram Mount. I used soldering iron on both ends.

I have included tpu_5layer file that goes under both upper 25mm hinges. 5 layers were too thick for my chair so I lovered it in Cura to 2 layers and now it fitted perfectly snuggly.

Tpu is used for better grip and for protection of a Playseat.

Upper hinges are designed for an M6 bolt instead for M5 t-nut that comes originally with SQ shifter. Insert M6 nut in "m6_t_nut_bracket.stl" and slide it instead of M5 in the shifter.

Final words

I've been using this mount for a few days now and it's been really sturdy. I hope PLA can withstand it.

Now Next Level Racing has announced F-GT LITE cockpit and I'm considering to order one, I'll just wait for a few reviews.

Print Settings

Printer Brand:

Creality

Printer:

Ender 3

Rafts:

Doesn't Matter

Supports:

Doesn't Matter

Resolution:

0.2

Infill:

20-80 %

Filament: DEVIL DESIGN PLA & TPU

Category: R/C Vehicles
