Plexiglass Trim With Magnets For Lack Enclosure
thingiverse
Made a mistake snapping your acrylic in a straight line? No problem! Just hide it with an elegant trim that also conceals magnets holding the door shut. Designed specifically for 3 mm plexiglass, each trim is 230 mm long to match half of my door's length. The magnet position is strategically placed at its midpoint. Each side of the trim measures 3mm in thickness due to my 2mm tall magnets, which prevent the door from lying flush against the table's front surface. I sourced 10 mm diameter refrigerator magnets from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0714KZP5C/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 To ensure a snug fit, I didn't add an extra tolerance to the magnet indent. Simply place a magnet on each side of the hole and use a flat head screwdriver to push it in – the other magnet should keep it from moving away. Aligning the magnets with the Lack leg is straightforward when you leave one magnet attached to the trim magnet and close the door. I chose not to glue the trim together or attach it to the plexiglass. Unfortunately, this left a small gap visible at the top right corner. A STEP file has been included for reference.
