This project is made to be a visual representation of the plot line. Some students have a hard time understanding the way plot works so this will help those students see the exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, then finally the conclusion. Parts Included : The car of the rollercoaster, the start/finish (they are the same), and the middle. Also we printed a small car to show the movement of a story in a book. To show the parts of plot on the rollercoaster, the teacher can create notes or paper to put on the spot where needed. How I Designed This Step 1 First we saw that the problem given to us was to make a object, only using the 3-d printer, that could help a teacher on a subject. Step 2 We first thought up of multiple ideas and one of them included a rollercoaster to explain plot another one was to make shapes. Step 3 We did some research on all our ideas and saw that the rollercoaster would be pretty simple but would help enough. Step 4 We knew we can only have it 3-d printed, it must be educational, and must be able to be used by a teacher to teach a lesson. Step 5 After looking back at our ideas we got rid of the shapes due to it not really being of use and a few other small ideas. Step 6 We chose the rollercoaster that taught plot due to the complexity of plot as a lesson and how students have a hard time learning it. Step 7 We then developed a design proposal about the rollercoaster. Step 8 We then created the rollercoaster and car in inventor. Project: Plot Coaster Objectives The objective is to make it easier for students to learn about plot. Audiences Students in 7th grade MC2 who are not the best at ELA. Preparation The only thing that is needed is for the teacher to have post it notes on the roller coaster to label the parts. Results Students should have seen a visual representation of the plot line.
