Pneumatic bag Insert Tube

This is a tube for connecting a pneumatic tube (ID 4mm) to a soft robotic actuator. IT was printed in PLA and at full infill. It should be possible to print it without supports when correctly orientated. Some pictures contain and 'updated' version, but this failed to work as well and I'll be going back to this design. They're included to show off what it will be used for. I made this as part of my ongoing tests to build a soft robotic actuator that mimics biological muscle. I needed a way to connect the sous vide bag that I was using as the actuator, to the pneumatic air input. I wanted an easy means of connecting the parts and so I developed this. It is designed so that the slight seam matches the seam of the bag. It has a slight taper so that when pressurised the connector will be pushed into the welded seam and stay in place and not pop out. Final gas seal is achieved by adding epoxy or glue to the gap between the connector and the bag. The 'external' piece is so that the underside of the bag is held up when the bag is sealed rather than on the ground. This leads to a much improved seal. Sealing of the bag can be achieved with a soldering iron at a temperature above 135c and below 250c. Based on a nylon-polyethylene composite sous-vide bag. A video showing it's intended purpose is at https://youtu.be/eHXcVEpjP1g This is very much a work in progress and will be updated going forward. You can see more of my work over at.
