Permanent Orienteering Course Control Point Marker Flag
Setting up some permanent orienteering courses (POC) with ~3.25 x 3.25 in. (83x83mm) control marks (tiles) for placing on 4x4 posts, etc.

Included are a variety of 3 letter tiles (24) you can print and use, as well as a tinkercad link and a fusion 360 file you can copy/edit/modify to make/add your own text or logos.
You can edit the text in the fusion .f3d file by editing the initial sketch.

You can use any symbol or pattern to identify individual control points. Three and four character strings are typical. Fun to use character sets from unrelated things.. this set is from Ham Radio abbreviations. Another set might be airport IATA codes (SEA, FHR, ORD, ATL, LAX, LHR, GLA, ORY, YVR, LIH, JFK, HHH, MBA, LIM, NRT, HKG.. oh boy is this list endless!).

Recommend PETG for outdoor durability. PLA is fine for short term.

The prints are designed to be a sequential 2 color print using the M600 gcode command change/print with new color starting at 1.00mm. White first, orange second.

Tinkercad link

Think fast, run hard!

Print instructions

Category: Sport & Outdoors Print Settings

Printer Brand: Prusa

Printer: i3 MK3

Resolution: .2

Infill: 100%

Filament: any PETG or PLA white / orange
Notes:

I group them to print 4 at a time.
Use your slicer's "change color layer" feature or insert an M600 gcode command manually before layer height 1.00mm starts printing.

Custom Section

What is Orienteering?

Orienteering can be enjoyed by all ages, skills, and abilities, including "Foot-O" (running), Skiing-O, Mountain Bike-O, and "Trail-O" (limited/assisted mobility).

Some videos and links for your interest:

Running Wild video from NYT: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H3TLmTNOb5E

Start Orienteering, A Newcomer's Guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=26Zc5AVkFis

Better Orienteering: https://betterorienteering.org/

International Orienteering Federation: https://orienteering.sport/

Grab a compass and map, Get outside, and Enjoy!
