Polka Food Storage Box Clips

Polka Food Storage Box Clips

I own quite a few Polka food storage boxes. They've been sold at very reasonable prices in their millions by Asda, Tesco etc. They have very good well-fitting lids. But whenever I took something like soup to work, I'd be afraid of the mess caused by leakages from the lid popping open. So I designed these clips to hold the lids on. They work brilliantly! I've created an extra secure version which also achieved its purpose very well, but is much harder to remove. And so you don't have to print one at a time, I've included a 4-up version. If you want to 100% secure a larger box like the 1.8l version I've pictured here, consider using 6 or 8 clips. Print Settings Rafts: Yes Supports: Doesn't Matter Resolution: Medium Infill: Full Notes: I printed mine in PLA on an M3D Micro How I Designed This 1. Measurements I measured using a vernier caliper 2. Design In Tinkercad I used two nested curved roof objects, one as a hole, a rectangular hole to truncate the curve, a rectangle for the spine, another curved roof for the bottom end, and a wedge for the hook which goes over the box flange. 3. Test Print, Refinement, Reprint The first print went well, but my clip was too narrow and a little on the short side, so I elongated the entire thing by a factor of 1.1 and made it double the depth. Then it was perfect. Finally I created the extra secure version by lengthening the hook part by 0.1mm, and created a 4-up version by tesselation.
