Pool Solar Cover Reel Bearing

Pool Solar Cover Reel Bearing

One of the bearings failed catastrophically on my Odyssey solar reel for my pool. I took out the good one and reverse engineered it. I made the cage a lot stronger as saving plastic was not a concern and I wanted to make it robust enough to survive being fitted. Old one looked like nylon and new one is ABS. Works pretty well - at least my reel is back in service. Print rollers upright with no support and use a little Loctite Gel Control Superglue in the dowel holes only in the two cage halves. Probably should have put WD40 in roller axles but forgot I guess I can still do that! You probably will need to open up the bore of the rollers where they touch the printer table with a 9/32 drill - just an 1/8" or so deep and turn down the flare on the roller due to the same issue by putting in a portable drill and pushing against a piece of sandpaper on a flat surface.
