Poplar Square Quadcopter

Smaller and lighter version of the Square Tubing Quadcopter using lightweight and inexpensive 5/8 in. Poplar Squares from the home improvement store. UPDATE 4-19-2014: Added better motor mount option. Uses 6 zip ties rather than 2 (4 to mount the motor to the bracket and 2 to mount the bracket to the boom). Instructions Most instructions can be found here:http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:40475 The key difference is now that the motors and the landing gear is mounted with zip ties (pictured) to save weight and break sacrificially in the event of a hard landing. UPDATE 4-19-2014: Now has stronger motor mount option mount_small.stl that uses 6 rather than 2 zip ties (4 to mount the motor to the bracket and 2 to mount the bracket to the boom, pictured). The center mount has been made thinner to save weight as well. The Poplar Squares are 5/8 x 5/8 x 36 in. One is cut in half and joined together with another whole peace by the two center_small.stl parts. All eight holes should be drilled and bolted with #4 bolts, nuts, and washers. The arms are then trimmed to a length of your choosing. The one pictured is trimmed so that from motor shaft to motor shaft (crossed) is 600mm. The original Square Tubing Quadcopter came out to be 1918 grams with battery and FPV gear.
