The 718 Cayman S has a 2.5 supercharged four-cylinder boxer engine that develops 350 hp; if the letters GT precede the S, the figure rises to 365 CV. The torque also rises from 420 Nm to 430 Nm, and all this thanks to the use of new collectors in the intake system and slight modifications in the turbo so that the blowing pressure increases from 1.1 to 1.3 bars. The elements that come standard in the GTS and that are optional in the S are the Sport Chrono package, the PTV limited slip mechanical differential, the adaptive suspension known as PASM in the Porsche universe, beautiful 20''-wheels and elements finished in black as the exhaust, some details in both bumpers, the logos that we find in the back and bottom of both doors and the tires themselves. The engine, with those extra 15 HP, makes the Cayman GTS accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in just 4.1 seconds - always talking about the variant with PDK change, which we could prove - which implies an improvement 0.3 seconds with respect to the S. Starting from just 2,000 rpm, the thrust is surprisingly vigorous up to 7,000 rpm, which means that you have 5,000 rpm of full power, linear and forceful. The only downside, as in the rest of the range, is that the sound is not as exciting as that of the previous generation 981 and its atmospheric six-cylinder engine. The melody is attractive, especially with the sports exhaust activated, but it does not have that extra personality that had the old propulsion 3.4. I suppose that, with the passage of time, we will forget this question ... although, at the moment, the beloved 981 is very close in time.
