<p>Us Nordics haven't been particularly accustomized to the hot summers so common recently. To help our apartments not be like saunas, we have started to buy portable AC devices; only, sadly, that most of them come with window attachments totally unsuitable for common casement windows.</p><p>With a 3D printer and some supplies, you can overcome this though.</p><p><strong>How to use</strong></p><p>You will need to modify the OpenSCAD model given to fit your particular AC machine hose. Print 3 copies, as follows:</p><ul><li>One thicker part, for interior; this is where you will mount the weather stripping. Account for the space required for the hose</li><li>One thinner part, for exterior; this differs by having the recess for screws removed</li><li>One vent grate; similar to exterior part, but solid and very thin. Use slicer's settings to create a grate-like print (no solid layers, high infill)</li></ul><p>You will also need the following</p><ul><li>Bolts/machine screws and nuts; the example uses M8 sized bolts. Adjust the count of holes to your liking. <strong>Ensure you buy long enough bolts to fit through 3 layers of 3D printed parts - calculate beforehand!</strong></li><li>Thick plastic (e.g. PVC) film, something similar as to the kind used in itabags (e.g. ZAFFIRO plastic from Eurokangas: https://www.eurokangas.fi/zaffiro-suojamuovi-lapinakyva-5514087u100). It should be relatively robust as it will be mounted to the window opening. Cut film to shape to fit window, and mount the parts through the film as shown in the photo, first cutting holes for screws and then for the hole itself.</li><li>Velcro tape; this is to facilitate easy removal when not needed. Mount soft tape to the window jambs, rough side to the film.</li></ul><p>Once parts have been constructed, attach film to the window, and push hose to the vent. It should fit relatively snugly.</p><p>Enjoy your newly chilly home!</p>
