Portable i3 printer with rotating tablet
cults3d
I've been using my i3 printer for two years now, and I'm extremely satisfied with its performance. I initially purchased it as a DIY kit for 300 euros, which turned out to be a fantastic investment considering its low cost. The printer features an acrylic frame, an aluminum bed, and a robust head that provides stability and strength. Currently, you can buy the i3 on eBay for under 200 euros. A word of caution: when purchasing a 3D printer, avoid models with an acrylic bed, as they are not designed to withstand high temperatures during the ABS printing process. Since I didn't have a dedicated space for my printer, I needed a simple solution to move it between rooms. One approach is to place it on a 50cm x 50cm stand and attach handles on either side. The i3 comes with some pre-made 3D models that you can use straight out of the box, while others may require modifications to fit your needs. These models are also available as open files for 3Ds Max. All the legs at the bottom of the stand require M3 bolts, and it's essential to secure them in place using an M3 nut. For extra security, you can use superglue to keep the nut firmly attached to the leg. A tablet holder has been designed specifically for a 7-inch Google Nexus tablet, allowing for 90-degree rotation. To print files on your Android device, you'll need an OTG-USB adapter and the GCode Simulator Printer app, available for download from the Google Play Store.
