The complex of the portico of Ottavia overlooking the Circo Flaminio (area that corresponds to the ancient ghetto) was rebuilt by Augustus, in place of the most ancient portico of Metello, between 27 and 23 a.C. and dedicated in the name of his sister Octavia. Subsequently it was restored and partially rebuilt in 203 by Settimio Severo after the destruction due to a fire of 191. At this period belong to most of the remains currently visible.
