On the top of the hill entering the “Parco Oasi” on the south-west side of the ancient walls of Terracina (Italy) there is an ancient gateway to the city. According to Lugli, he would treat the “Porta del Buco”, or “Posterula”, which would have given the district its name. This passage, which connected the upper Terracina to the lower part of the city, consisted of a small architraved made with old recovery material taken from roman monuments. This gate of the ancient city is today obstructed and is visible only from the outside going up from the “Parco Oasi”. The inside of the door was obstructed at the end of the 18th century for realize the new road of Posterula. Very interesting are the remains of a funerary epigraph present on the right calcareous jamb with letters about 7-8 centimeters high and that compose the following pertinent text, as mentioned, to an ancient funerary monument: · H (oc) · M (onumentum) · / IN FR (onte) I P (edes) XXX.
