Pot with Perforated Lid

Pot with Perforated Lid

A pot with perforated lid. I use it to put silica granules inside, but can really be used for anything. Perforation of the lid can easily be suppressed in the original design if you need a solid lid. Closes with a screwing mechanism.

NOTE: If you plan to store spices or food make sure to fully understand how to use food safe filament and make the whole process food safe.

Print Settings

Printer Brand:

FlashForge

Printer:

Adventurer 3

Rafts:

Yes

Supports:

Yes

Resolution:

0.16

Infill:

15%

Filament:
Flashforge PLA 1.75mm PLA white / transparent

Notes:

The pot was printed with a raft and tree supports (1mm base). Without raft and standard base of 3mm with the tree supports I ran into problems removing the support. The lid is printed without supports (upside down). While it prints fine at standard resolution, it closes more smoothly if printed at high quality. Extruder temperature is set at 210°C and bed temperature at 50°C. Print speed is set to 40mm/s. Outside layers is set to 3 layers to allow for sanding.
In the pictures I used transparent filament for the lid and white filament for the pot. The model tolerances for the screw lid should be generous enough to allow using different colors for the lid and the pot. Using different materials for pot and lid has not been tested.

CAUTION: If you slicer adds supports inside the pot for the thread, it should be safe to remove them to not clog the thread.

Post-Printing

Some sanding to smoothen the print.

How I Designed This

The Fusion360 file is in the attachments and pretty self describing. Feel free to adjust and reshare.

NOTE: Tolerances for the screw lid have been introduced at the lid thread and the pot thread. Only adding tolerances (even higher ones) to one part did not work as the thread was too tight.

Category: Containers
