This is a DIY version of a power distribution post for big power cables, originally intended for marine applications, although automotive use isnt much of a stretch. It is built up from 3 printed pieces, designed with many good intentions and little practical experience. The inner piece is best printed on it's side in order to make it strong in the vertical pulling direction. The outer piece is meant to be printed flat (upside down works best for supports and tolerances) and is meant to provide some resistance to the layers of the inner piece coming apart when the bolt is twisted. Update: I have edited the STL's to situate the parts in the (IMO) correct orientation.. All parts fit together perfectly for me on my first print in 0.20 layer resolution with a .40 nozzle. Some slight tolerances have been taken in to account but you can tweak during slicing should you have any trouble with parts fitting together. No snap fitting is used.. glue the bottom cover if you want it secure. Non printed parts required: -M10 bolt (M10x30 is a nice size) -2 M10 nuts -M10 spring washer The mounting holes are sized for M5 bolts..(hexagon socket to be exact) make sure that your power cables can't come into contact with these when using metal bolts into a metal body!. New: First draft of a cover has been added! Based on the cover design of the store bought posts, but modified to work for 3d printed applications (i.e. non rubber, and screw-fitted instead of clamping). There are 2 versions of the cover, one slightly taller than the one in the pictures as you can see there is not much room left when you use a regular M10 nut.. The lower one does have more threads engaded with the bolt, which is why I designed it that way originally. The only thing I can think of that I would like is a slot-in cap for the post cover so I can close off openings that arent used, so I'll keep this a work in progress a little longer. I would recommend to use a longer bolt if you need to connect a lot of terminals.. it's relatively easy to stretch the legs of the cover. Hope to see some makes and hear back your views!
