Power Supply Cover and Remote Switch

I designed these parts to allow three things: 1: Use a standard, removable power cord. 2: Cover the electrical connections on the power supply. 3: Have a recessed, remote power switch on the front of the printer. These were designed for use on MakerBeam XL 15mm x 15mm extrusion, for a CoreXY printer, but could be used on just about any other machine. The switch housing allows a cable to be safely run back to the power supply while keeping the connections enclosed (we're switching the A/C voltage). Captive nuts attach the cover to the housing, but are on the 'outside' of that part. No metal inside the housing. Keep the hardware short. It just needs to tighten down on the nut. 6mm should do it. Remember: Always switch the hot. If you don't know how to wire a switch on an A/C circuit, SEEK PROFESSIONAL HELP! The cover fits the power supply that came with my Anet A8, but should fit most other supply's of this type. It also has a place to mount a standard power cord. There are also two holes for cables. One for DC out to the RAMPS, etc. And one for the cable running to the switch housing. The PS mounting brackets also are for the 15x15 extrusion. Having the switch on the front is not only convenient for me, it's also a safety item for others. If something bad happens with the printer, I might know that the power cord has to be pulled, or that there is a switch on the back of the machine. But if I'm not there some else might not know how to kill the power. Putting the switch out front makes sense. The switch is recessed to prevent accidental bumping. Nothing spectacular on the printing.... .3 layers, 2 perimeters, 2 layers top and bottom, and 20% infill. You will need a little support on the PS cover for the receptacle area. I've included the SketchUp model (v2013) in case you need to modify the parts.
