Prescription Glasses Frames

Inspired by the AA Glasses, I decided to make my own. After a few iterations (some lasted upwards of 3 months, even with the abuse of a very rambunctious 2 year old). This is my final design. Hope somebody else will get good use of them too! Instructions The only post processing is a little work with a heat gun to match the shape of the lenses and to make the ear portion a little more comfortable/fit more snugly. I used 2 pieces of 1/16" Stainless Tig rod for the hinges, but a piece of 1.75mm filament is what I designed them for. To Make the hinges permanent do the following: Measure and cut your hinge filament piece leaving about 1/8" on either side hanging out. Use a heat gun or torch to heat up a flat bladed knife. Once the knife is hot enough to melt the plastic, gently use the side of the blade to smash both ends of the filament, creating a filament rivet. Enjoy your new riveted hinges!
