Press Roller for Latex making

Press Roller for Latex making

This is a simple press roller used for the glued seams of latex fashion. I made this because I couldn't buy one locally, and had to get mine off ebay with a 2 week wait. Teaching a friend latex making, I figured by having a 3d printer he could get such a tool in his kit a bit quicker. And it's not bad quality either. A few things you should know for a good print; Print at 70% infill or greater. These tools are used with a bit of pressure for a good quality seam on your latex. You'll need two screws. I used a couple of spare screws sitting on my desk without problems. 10mm length, 3mm thick. You can use self tappers or bore out a thread yourself with a drill. Use longer screws if you like. I allowed for 15mm screws to be used. Print the presser and the axle with a brim. Bed adhesion sucks on long narrow things. It's worth the extra time you'll take sanding off the bed adhesion. ASSEMBLY: Use fine sandpaper to clean up all the components. Stick the axle into the presser, use 2 screws to mount the handle bracket to the axle. Screw tightly. You may need to grip one screw with another driver, or pliers while tightening the other. Once assembled, roll it about and check that it has free movement. Loosen a little if needed. You can also use a bit of super glue inside the screw holes for nice reliable tightness.
