Print-In-Place Clamshell Container for Multi-Material or Single Color Prints

Please click the “Like” button above if you like this model, and if you print it please share a make/comment - I love seeing them and it keeps me motivated to continue making these in my spare time.

If you think of any fun/useful generic icons that might work well on here, let me know in the comments and I will see if I can add them, or remix your own, they need to fit into a 10mm circle.

Clip Model

Nothing extra required.

Magnet Models

Magnet model requires 3mmx2mm magnets. I used these.

Please make sure the polarity of the top magnet is pointing the correct direction before inserting.

Magnets With Covers

Instructions

Print at 0.2mm

You will need to add pauses at the following heights to add the magnets:

10.6mm (layer 53 @ 0.2mm)

85.2mm (layer 426 @ 0.2mm)

Tolerances are tight, please insert carefully as to not dislodge the print from the bed.

Pausing

In PrusaSlicer, slice and slide the slider down to the layer. Right click on the
+
and
Add pause print
.

Please note if you are using Octoprint and a Prusa printer, there is an issue with pausing on the current firmware, see here. You will need to add custom gcode to your octoprint scripts to fix this and only resume prints from Octoprint, not the printer LCD.

Magnets No Covers

There is tolerance to add a dab of glue in the hole.

Multi-Material Models

Please note that the order of the STLs matters! The icons MUST BE LAST in the STL list for them to print properly. I have numbered the STLs for convenience. You should only have 1 number each for each model.

If you want to save a lot of print time, make the top accent color the same as the container.

Printing Instructions

PrusaSlicer

Layers and Perimeters → Quality (slower slicing) → Extra perimeters if needed: ✓

This helps with quality of the icon on the vertical surface

Infill → Advanced → Fill angle: 35°

This helps with the quality of the infill on the bottom inside emboss

DO NOT wipe into the objects infill - this will cause color bleeding

I personally turn skirt and brim loops to 0 for MM prints, but not required
