Printables “Business” Card to promote your Printables profile-page. Also a neat way to show your 3D printing skills as a giveaway.

A base file without the QRCode and my logo is provided!

For printing use a 0.4mm (or 0.2mm) nozzle with a layer heigth of 0.2mm

Card is printed in 3 color layers. Because I only have 1 extruder, I used the filament change function in Prusa (M600) for this.

The bottom 1.2mm is the base (white). I choose to make it 1.2mm so it is realy sturdy.

Then there is the layer for the text and images: 1.4mm-1.6mm (2 layers), which are printed in black.

On top there is the layer for the orange details: 1.8-2.0mm (2 layers).

You can personalize the card by filling the empty area with something you like. Just add the extra model(s) / STL files on the appropriate layer of the base model.

A modern way is to use a QRCode. Try it, scan the QRCode from the photo!

To make such QRCode as shown just go to the website of Felix Stein https://printer.tools/qrcode2stl p.s. there are more QRCode generators out there, but I find the one of Felix the most convenient.

For the space available and creation of the QRCode use the following settings:

Choose for Text/URL in QR Code Options

Insert the link to your profilepage (without /about at the end) in the textfield

For Error Correction choose Low (7%)

In [3D model options - Base] use the following settings:

Shape rectangle

Width 32mm (maximum)

Depth 0mm (no base layer)

No border!

Leave everything else standard! (do not place extra text, or you will have to make the QR Code itself smaller, which will make printing more difficult..)

In [3D model options - QRCode] use the following settings:

Depth = 0.4 (this will be 2 layers)

Margin = 0mm

Leave everything else standard!

Now hit the button [Generate 3DModel] and download the STL.

For making the complete card:

Open the model [Printables Business Card] in the slicer.

Add the STL with the QRCode by right-clicking and [add part]-[load]

Position the QRCode STL on the Business Card. (Check if the height is ok)

Slice the model.

Add color changes. On the website of Felix he explains it for Prusa Slicer and Cura.

Slice again and save the print file.

You can fill the empty space left with your name or for instance your own logo. I added my logo all the way to the top layer so it was also highlighted with orange. Repeat above steps to add this 3rd STL.

I have added my card as a print-file, just for calculating printing time and material usage.

I have added my project file, just to show how the placement and layer switches are done.

Create your own, by using the base STL-file provided.

printer.tools/qrcode2stl by Felix Stein.
