I am installing a modified version of the Makerbot Replicator extruder on my Printbox. This revised extruder utilizes two standard Printbox3D hotends and coolers, providing enhanced functionality. I've redesigned it to employ an MK8 driving gear, combined with a robust 604Z bearing securely held in place by a 4x10 mm screw. Moreover, the overall design has been minimized to accommodate a NEMA17 motor and features a compact lever system. The modular construction allows for effortless part mirroring, making it possible to easily convert this single extruder setup into a dual-extrusion configuration. Additionally, I have included an attachment that seamlessly integrates with my 50mm extruder (refer to Thingiverse's model number: 1034400) - for users who require only a single extruder setup.
