Printer Calibration; Spaces and Fill

thingiverse

This model accelerates calibration of my Thing-O-Matic printer and skeinforge settings. It comprises a X-axis comb with teeth spaced 0.1mm to 1.0mm apart, a Y-axis comb, a fill-check square, and a 608 bearing scale ring for inner hole diameter testing. The source is at https://github.com/clothbot/makerbot/blob/master/tests/thingomatic/spaces/test_spaces.scad. Follow these steps: download test_spaces.stl, slice it in skeinforge or preferred software, print, and observe the comb spacing, fill square, and bearing ring measurement. Check for qualitative metrics such as skipped steps and backlash, and assess first layer adhesion when printing raftless. Determine minimum object spacing by decreasing from 1mm to 0.1mm comb tooth spacing. Adjust slicing or machine parameters based on observations, then repeat the process for improved calibration. For quicker iterations, download OpenSCAD file and remove unwanted parts, leaving only one or both combs.
