Printrbot Play USB FIXER

Printrbot Play USB FIXER

A problem I was having with my Printrbot Play is that I would get into a print, things would be smooth sailing and then suddenly everything would stop and I'd get a serial error. Turns out the only thing supporting the USB cable is the jack itself. A little too much vibration or a slight bump can break the connection between print server/workstation and the Play. It looks like Printrbot may have addressed this with a new USB cable with a fatter end that fills the cutout in the Play's sheetmetal side. I had both cables (not realizing they were different) and not wanting to take any more chances, I switched to the fat one and designed this gizmo. The USB cable fits snuggly (so snuggly that you may need to shave a little bit extra away with an exacto knife to get your cable end into it. I used a glue gun to stick this to my machine and it works great. One tip: because of the snug fit, you'll want to put the cable end into the USB FIXER and then glue the fixer to your bot. Otherwise, the holes may not match up close enough to plug in your USB cable. Good luck, I think you'll find it helpful. When I get a chance I'll upload a version for the original skinnier plug end - though this one would probably work . Happy trails!
