Situation So you broke your Ubis hotend and don't have time to buy another, but you do have a J-Head lying around? Then -- wow -- that's a pretty specific situation you have there, but at least now you can do something about it. How At first it looks like this isn't possible, the J-Head is too short to mount in a Simple Metal. But it can be done, there are two methods for using a J-Head on a Simple Metal: Print a mount which holds the J-Head low enough to pretend it's an Ubis. Modify the printer to accept the shorter J-Head. These files help you achieve option 2. Lift Bed To use the J-Head, you have to raise the print bed on longer M3 bolts (20-30mm) (available online) with springs (available at Home Depot in the door hardware section). To raise the bed you should lower the X axis belt, one way of doing this is by laser cutting or printing the extensions from here and mounting them to the print bed with M3 bolts and zip ties. Smaller Fan Shroud Then you need to print a shorter fan shroud that doesn't drop below the new hotend. I've uploaded a kinda OK one here. How I Designed This Designed with Inkscape and FreeCAD.
