Boost the PrintrBot Simple's y-axis distance to 160mm and eliminate string slipping by swapping major y-axis components for a GT2 belt drive. The upgrade offers enhanced twist resistance and rigidity compared to wood parts, despite an increase of 60% in travel. This modification is compatible with original Simple parts, allowing easy reversal if needed. A print volume of 250x100x75 is required, which can be achieved using Thing 215294 for the PrintrBot Simple Metal Print Bed For Build Volume Upgrade. Note that this upgrade has only been tested with a wooden direct drive extruder. Photos show a beta version of the part that needed trimming; current parts should work as printed. Required materials include 10" and 12" 8mm rods (McMaster 88625K67), PrintrBot GT2 belt kit (2' belt, 1 gear), six 608 bearings, three 3mmx12 socket caps, and a 3mm nut. Tools needed are 2.5mm, 3.2mm, and 8mm drills, and an optional 3mm tap.
