Printrbot Top Joinder w Nut Retainer & Y offset
thingiverse
This is a revamped version of http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:23038, featuring a retained nut and clearance for high-Z. The original design by TheGrum included Printrbot's logo, but I modified it to suit my needs. As a learner in OpenSCAD, I created an edition with 8mm threaded rod, no bridging, and a retained nut for enhanced smoothness of prints. The STL files (v3) showcase the red print without a joinder, exhibiting crisper edges compared to the white one printed with the red fitted. However, I encountered an issue where the stepper crashed into the high-Z area. Thus, another design (v4 STL) was created, moving back on the Y axis to prevent collision. Print this design chunky (2 perimeters and 20% infill), as a thinner print led to a split in my first attempt. Drilling out a small amount in the 8mm holes ensures proper nut fitting. Use a drill chuck to easily insert the top threaded rod, adjusting Z height for accurate alignment with other Z rods. Consider extending the threaded rod length for potential future additions. Please remember, this is not a handle.
