Prius Gen 3 (2010 +) iPad Mini Stand

thingiverse

iPad Mini stand for rear passengers in a Prius. This is a remix from:http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:104534 This one preserves the ability to use at two different angles, and works great when the iPad has a simple rubber case (for me an inexpensive one from Amazon by Tech Armor). I made the overall case wider, rounded the edges on the outside, and beveled the inside edge to match the angle of the iPad. The extra width makes it more stable if touching it while using the stand and fits the width of the armrest in the Prius. Instructions Printed in PLA with 0.3mm layer height on a Bukobot. I set slic3r to do solid infill every 15 layers. Used a file to quickly remove any rough spots on the edges that touch the iPad. I have a case on the back and a screen protector on the front so I didn't worry about the iPad beyond this. The center armrest locks in a retracted position to access a second cup holder in the front. Using several Velcro straps interlocked together (these are found at the hardware store) I was able to strap the stand on the armrest extended into the back seat area. The audio input and power are in the armrest, so there are no wires in the way up front. Set the audio fader to rear speakers. The iPad Mini fits well between the front seats. If you are worried about it falling off, run a piece of Blue Painters Tape up the back of the stand onto the back of the iPad.
