Project: Sailing Submarines - Monohull

Hi! I had some more fun imagining some things..... I live next to a lake that is currently frozen! But it won't be for long :-P Make sure you check out my cool cups & mugs here: https://WeCanDrinkTogether.com/ Similar in concept to the Catamasub here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5935932 and I re-used a fair few parts, like the rudder and masts. Both of these projects use elements of my Bluenose sailing model: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5513493 Basically the same hull as my submarine marker buoy: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5396600 , slightly modified. I tested it out last year properly ballasted and it has quite the smooth profile in the water. The keel will spoil that a little bit, but hopefully won't be too bad. I thought it would be fun to make a sailing submarine. In part, because I realized that without a crew, a sailboat doesn't need to float above the surface. This one has more interesting things you can do with the front fins being poseable. Hopefully will be able to actually have some foiling/diving sailing if it gets up to a decent speed. I think it'll be interesting to use the hydrofoil fins to counter the roll of the sailboat on a broad reach (wind directly abeam (perpendicular) to the boat's direction of travel). Assemble the keel with two (2) M4x10mm screws. The holes are 4.25mm, so it should be a friction fit for those threads!.... Maybe I'll shrink 'em down a quarter milli.... We'll see.
Update!
I printed a mini version at 50% scale, see photos. It floats more-or-less as expected... At 50% scale, the foremast makes it too top-heavy, but the weight balance of the keel is skewed by the shrunken size. Without the mast though (and without the rudder!) it's floating about 30% out of the water.
Update 2
I've started printing the full-size version. The fit on M4 screws is perfect I also added a hole to the keel to be able to adjust ballast later, and also included a plug in the event that no weight needs to be added.
Update 3
The sail trim I developed for the Bluenose seems to be much more effective. The new, wider sail pattern I tried, with jib, the pattern for which I have not posted was nowhere as effective. I'll be trimming the mainsail down to closer to the bluenose profile and making a new jib sail. Even the lousy jib that I had made itself felt in a big way: really improved the overall airfoil performance.
