Proof of Concept

Using Jamesvilleneuve's Bolt/Nut v1.5 as a foundation, this project involves creating sculptures by connecting individual modules with fasteners and connectors. The first attempt features threaded screws joining two objects while allowing the head to be on and off. To learn OpenSCAD, the user initially resorted to a hack: in Tinkercad, they made a "positive" nut that was booleaned out of the model's top. This positive nut design can be downloaded from Thingiverse (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:33253). The actual nut was then booleaned into the remaining space and joined with the head, resulting in a finished product. Applications used include Netfabb, Tinkercad, OpenSCAD, and RepG Sailfish for printing with 200-micron resolution at 180 mm size.
