This filament guide provides some more guidance to the filament. It fits on top of the frame. The upper hole is really near the spool. Due its 2 holes it provides more guidance even the the extruder moves to the outer left/right of the print bed. Therefore, filament - especially if spool is new and fully filled - cannot jump off the spool that easy anymore. Edit: There is a new version available, which should avoid any collissions with the printhead, even on higher Z values.
