I've designed two bearings that you can slide on the stock i3 MK3S spool holder, since this design isn't working very well. The bearings are for ColorFabb 750 gram spools and for the spools that Prusa ships with their printers (I believe these are all 750 gram silver PLA spools).

The tolerances on the bearings are pretty tight (±0.15mm), so make sure that your printer is capable of printing these. I printed mine in Dutch Orange PLA from ColorFabb, with the stock PLA/PHA profile in PrusaSlicer at 0.2mm layer height, and I didn't have any issues.

You probably need to "loosen" the rollers a bit after printing, which can be done by trying to gently pry them apart. Once every roller is free, you can feel the bearing spinning freely.

Support
If you want to support me for the designs I publish for free, please consider using my AliExpress Affiliate Link when buying something from AliExpress. It doesn't cost you anything extra, but helps me out a lot :)

Print instructions

Category: 3D Printing Summary

I've designed two bearings that you can slide on the stock i3 MK3S spool holder, since this design isn't working very well.
