ok skipped a few experimental versions.. now up to V10 Latest version modeled with CFD to improve cooling at the tip of the extruder head. I have managed to print some very small delicate parts as a result and the quality is definitely better. the design blows air from both sides with a slight asymmetry in order to get the 2 paths to pass closer to the tip. there are supports in the model that improve the printing of the V section under the fan these are designed for a 0.3mm nozzle diameter and worked quite well, they are easily removed with a knife or cutters. Previous versions upgrades fan cooler head, supposed to work like an air amplifier, I think it works well, consistent cooling all round head. (the original only cooled from one side) V5 now uploaded Massive increase in airflow compared to v4 (the fan speed can be reduced as a result) one thing to beware of I have had to move the x endstop as the cooler can now hit the z lead-screw otherwise. pictures in blue.. X carrage endstop added Have added printed x endstop that mounts on the 40mm extruder cooler fan. this stops the wider fan duct from hitting the z lead-screws without any further modification. Apologies to anyone who downloaded the V3 it should have been V4, the STL was out of date, this is fixed now. one tip, if you're printing this and your prints are currently stringy then you'll want to pick them off before it covers the top layer otherwise it's hard to clean out the internals.. I have experimented with cutting the supports/nozzles out of the ring and you can increase airflow. but I'm not sure if it's worth the effort. I printed in PLA and to protect it against melting I have put foil tape on it to reflect the heat from the extruder. this may not be necessary, but I thought it worth the effort. I've put a picture of the V2 with cut holes to show how I've added the foil tape. the V4 (that's in the STL) is much better for airflow and footprint.
