This is a reinterpretation of the darts game using the filament spool as the dartboard and the Prusament cardboard box as the cabinet with a 3D printed magnetic dart. Read the print instructions for some tips and tricks to print this model and to find out the rules of the game.

Print instructions

How to print

The dart

For one dart you will need 1 dart "core", 2 flaps and a round 10X5mm magnet.
The flaps need to be printed at 45 degrees so that the printing lines will be perpendicular on the future middle bend of the piece. This is necessary so that the flaps won't break when they are bent.
After you have bent the flaps, insert them in the dart core (as in the pictures). If you have stringing in the cuts where the flaps are supposed to slide, you have to first clean the cuts with a sharp blade.
I recommend to glue the magnet in. The magnet should be a little bit out of the dart core (not flash).

The hex pieces

Here you have 2 versions, one with a m3 nut insert, so that the project will be cheaper, and one with a round 6X2mm magnet for a better grip. For each of these 2 versions there are 2 iterations on the tolerance (if you have a printer that it is not properli calibrated).
Print the first layer at 0.15mm so that it will be as little as possible material between the magnet of the dart and the nut/magnet on the spool.
Print this piece a little bit more squished (live Z adjust) so that the piece makes an elephant foot to minimize the risk to push to much the hex piece in the hole. In this way, at the end all the pices are flash.
Also i recommend to glue these pieces in the Prusament spool.

The disc

Print the first layer at 0.15mm so that il will be as little as possible material between the magnet on the dart and the nuts in the disc.
The disc is inserted in the cardboard core of the prusament spool and it is pressed in until it touches the plastic part of the spool.
On the back of the disc you have to insert m3 nuts (I will explain the purpose of this piece later in the game rules).

The doors, hinge and hook

There is a single door file, you should print it twice.
Also you will need 6 hinges.
Clean the holes on the door and hinges with a 2mm drill bit.
For the hinge shaft use 1,75mm filament.
The hook is glued on the back of the cabinet, so you can hang wherever you want to play and you can take it down whenever, without wearing the cardboard if you do not have it.

How to make the game

First off all you have to cut the lid of the box so that we can instal the doors of the cabinet.
Atach the hinges to the 3D printed doors using pieces of fillament as the shaft of the hinge.
Place the doors and the hinges on the box and glue them to box.
For this project you will need only one face of the Prusament spool and the middle cardboard core.
After instaling the hex pieces in the Prusament face spool, glue the center cardboard core on the bottom of the box.
Make the dart as described above.
Then enjoy the game and have a fun time playing !

The rules of the game

First you need to decide how many colors you want to use for the hexagonal inserts . For example we will use 4 colors, named from now color 1, color 2, color 3 and color 4.
You need to give each color a point value (positive or negative). For example:
color 1 is +1 points
color 2 is +2 points
color 3 is +5 points
color 4 is -5 points

The color (hex inserts) are distributed on the Prusament spool randomly or as you wish. For example you can have:
40% color 1
40% color 2
15% color 3
5% color 4

At the beginning of the game each player has 3 shots.
If the dart hits one or more color at the same time, the total points are calculated by the hex pieces that the dart is touching. If the color has a negative point you will subtract the points (exemple you have hit color 2, color 3 and color 4, the point are 2+5-5=2).
If you hit the center of the spool, no mather at what point in your turn, you will loose your turn and your point for that turn will be negative by the amount of each positive color ( in our example color 1, color 2, color3) , in this example il will be -8 (color 1+color 2+color3=8).
Each player takes turns until 10 round passes, at the end of the game the winner is the one with the most points.
