Pull-chain Finials for Ceiling Fan

Pull-chain Finials for Ceiling Fan

If, like me, you have trouble remembering which pullchain turns on the ceiling fan and which turns on the light, attach these finials -- the dangly bits at the end of the chain... I had to look up the correct term -- and yank unerringly. I happened to have two differently sized pullchains, so there is a lock part for each size. Instructions I printed these without support, which required a bit of cleanup for the light bulb's lock-pocket; with support I think they would need even more cleanup. Add a bit of silver paint for the light bulb's thread area, pass the chain through each object, snap the appropriately sized lock onto the end of the chain, and pull the chain back through to seat the lock. I didn't find glue necessary, but if the lock is loose a dab might help. I designed these things at an arbitrary size and then scaled each to what seemed "right." In the .stl files they are 30mm tall, you can edit the OpenSCAD source or scale in your slicing software if you prefer a different size. Note though that while I scaled the overall objects in OpenSCAD, I did not scale the holes for the chain or the chain lock.
