A cross-shaped knives were used to cut pumpkins into four pieces which later fell onto a 5m long plastic modular belt with 6 processing stations for personnel to further processing such as cutting into smaller pieces and carving. Please note that the pneumatic piston with diameter of 80mm was rather more satisfactory during the cutting application compared to the one used in the design which has a diameter of 63mm. Also, the optimal thickness of the knives are found to be 3mm. 4mm thick knives showed to be too thick and apply too much pressure to the pumpkin so that rather than cutting it crushed the pumpkin (which also squeezes out the juice). 2mm was found to be perfect at cutting the pumpkin however, it was too thin so that over short amount of time the knives were bent beyond repair.
