The PuriStraw is a straw that purifies contaminated water so it is drinkable. It is able to be 3D printed so it can be created on any 3D printer. The water is purified by 13 different chambers that have a filter-like design. The straw also allows for carbon charcoal so the water can be purified even more. The straw is printed in 3 different sections so parts can easily be replaced and to add carbon charcoal between the chambers. The total height of the straw put together is 6.9 inches and .8 inches wide. The first file with the straw separated into three different chambers is the printable file. The only assemble needed would be to screw the chambers together. The second file shows all of the filters inside of the straw. The filters have different sized holes in them and they get smaller as they go up the straw. When you need to use the straw, place the bottom of the straw in the contaminated water and suck the water through the straw. When the water reaches the top of the straw, it should be filtered by the filters and purified by the charcoal. Carbon charcoal can be bought at any pet store or grocery store. It is used in fish tanks to filter water and has no flavor. The reason why I created this straw is so it can be easily accessible. It is also a lot cheaper than the purifier straws created by other manufacturers. On a Mojo 3D printer, it may take about 9 hours and 24 minutes. It will take about 1.36 inches of model material and 1.22 inches of support material. The third file shows the assembled straw.School: Holy Cross High School
